still possibles

I was looking back through my 'still possible' folder. It's full of concepts I devised and never fulfilled. Some I have actively modified into new projects; some leak out in other ways. These images probably informed my recent work with everyday objects. Voices from the Past had keys, a drawing, a spanner and other tools. Where will they go next? Where will I go next?

I have reflected on many questions today:


What is it I do?
What is the product?
Where are the boundaries of socially engaged art?
What is the role of the artist?
Is 19.52 still afternoon?


None of them give the whole picture.

Out of the Blue

Unexpected events do all sorts of things don't they. I used to look for acknowledgement but I think significance is much more achievable because it can be significance on all sorts of levels including at a very personal level and inward looking.

The Value of Art

Value is not the same as money. It holds so much more in its hand. It involves dialogue, barter and negotiation; an appraisal of specific needs at any one moment in time. It comes from within, not externally imposed. It returns a level of control over my life that has been taken away by corporate price tags. It is no longer linear, progressive or predictable. It's so much more satisfying.
